WATCH: Hartford’s New Innovative Parkville Microgrid

Last week, DEEP Commissioner Robert Klee, Mayor Luke Bronin, Council President TJ Clarke II, State Senator John Fonfarra, and other officials and dignitaries participated in a ribbon cutting for the Parkville Microgrid, an innovative clean energy generator that powers a community center, library, school, grocery store, and gas station! The microgrid will make the Parkville neighborhood more resilient, because the fuel cell will not go down when the grid goes down during an extreme weather event. The fuel cell powers the equivalent of 100 homes and produces no pollution. It is one of the few microgrids in the country that serve both public and private users, and we hope it will be model for future energy development in Hartford. Check out this video, featuring former City Architect Tony Matta.
